TMG carries out the following activities: civic and voter education programmes, election monitoring, publication of reports on the conduct of elections and other activities in the electoral process, conducting research, holding conferences, seminars and training workshops. As part of the desire to ensure accountability in governance, TMG is seeking to implement a project under its post-election programme that will create the means for citizen’s to make input in policies and legislation through their representatives as well as monitor the implementation of government programmes in Nigeria.

TMG will also continue to build the capacity of its member organizations and develop new strategies for future election monitoring efforts. It will continue advocacy work on women participation in politics and develop strategies for building women and youths’ leadership skills.

Challenges:

As TMG strives to sustain its pursuit of a better democratic system in Nigeria the issue of financial sustainability remains its greatest challenge.  TMG therefore looks up to donors to support it in its burning desire to see that the democratic project in Nigeria succeeds.

Administrative Structure and Location:

The TMG functions under an elected and broadly representative coordinating committee system of decision making with a secretariat which carries out day to day activities. In addition to the central committee of the TMG there are six zonal coordinators and state coordinators in the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.  The Coordinating Committee is headed by a chair person while the zones and States are facilitated by zonal and State coordinators. The secretariat is under the leadership of a national coordinator with various management and programme staff.
